Prof. Tuna Tasan-Kok Delivers 18th IRS International Lecture on Society and Space

I recently delivered the 18th IRS International Lecture on Society and Space focusing on how the consequences of neoliberalism and entrepreneurial urban governance seem to be very clearly visible in some cities through scattered property-led spatial developments and investments. While the entrepreneurialisation of municipal governance is widely acknowledged in the scholarly literature, the extent and format of institutional and organisational structures that accompany neoliberal ideological shifts and market transitions often remain unclear.

This lecture was a unique opportunity for me to reflect on and discuss my ongoing work surrounding the fragmented governance architectures of contemporary urban development that we see in many cities and regions worldwide. I would like to thank the discussant for the session, Prof. Dr. phil. Laura Calbet i Elias. I would also like to thank Dr. Matthias Bernt of IRS Leibniz Institute for Research on Society and Space for his kind invitation, along with the team who arranged the session. If you missed the session, there is a recording available on YouTube to watch the recent lecture.
